The lovely credits of building this site goes to the daughter of La Bete Wine's Wine Maker(s) (John E. and Kay E.). Please don't take the image, I worked hard on it.

Update!

Spring is here in Oregon once more. It has been cool thus far, with more periods of rain, and snowpack in the mountains, but bud break has made it past the critical risk of early frost.

For those of you who may follow our wines, the past year or so has been, as with many other Oregon wineries, a struggle in a very difficult economy. The weakness of the market is one thing, the other being the “bad reputation” that the 2007 vintage wines received by the wine press and the perception by wine buyers. I remain convinced that ultimately the 2007 vintage will be recorded as a “classic” Oregon vintage, one with some elegance, style and grace.

2008 was an outstanding year for fruit, and wines, but at La Bete we were challenged in that we were only able to produce 500 cases of wine in total. This due to the decreased crop loads along with other business factors. So, the situation currently is that we don’t have a lot of wine to talk about nor offer (2008 wines being totally sold out). Below is a listing of the wines currently available along with prices:

2007 Gamay Noir, Rebecca’s Vineyard $14.00

2007 Pinot Noir, Momtazi Vineyard special price while quantities remain $20.00

2009 Pinot Gris, Croft Vineyard Organically grown grapes $14.00

We also have some limited cases remaining of past vintages of our very special Pinot Noir, Saint Vincent Cuvee – 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 $40.00

What is in store for the future? We have some incredible wines in the barrel from the 2009 vintage. For those of you who enjoyed the 2006 vintage from Oregon, I find this to be similar, yet more full-flavored. Perhaps a combination of the very hot 2003 vintage with the structure of 2006 or 2008. I really like these wines! We are in the process of deciding upon single vineyard designations as well as blends, so it is a bit premature, but we worked with a few established vineyards that were new for us, and they are outstanding! Watch for further updates in a couple of months. What I can share is that our 2009 Pinot Noir, Selection du Cave should be bottled and ready for sale around July.

Thanks for visiting our site, and we look forward to hearing from you or seeing you soon.
